Track Name: Skullface
SKULLFACE (Lyrics: Callahan)
Now the music’s over and I head for home

Creeping through some fields like a wolfhound alone

Scratching up and down, there stands my door

I jump through the keyhole and smash my face on the floor
I come round with a thousand thousand thoughts

and crash-land in the bathroom

in front of me stands a skeleton

whose glassy fingers touch my own

touch my own
Black bone carbon stumps

ripped-off skin

guts just dust within

I have to make a hurried inspection

staring at my own reflection

staring at my own reflection.
Track Name: Cheer Up
Cheer Up (Lyrics: Callahan)

There’s nothing I like more than being stared at in the street

Berated like a whore:

“You look like an angel fell from heaven,
show us what you got,
ooh, you look so hot,

Cheer up, fucking cheer up,

It might never happen”

In fact it already has

You look like a generic refugee from an internment camp

Is it the job interview from hell where you’ve got to tell the boss

how you’ve always wanted to fill and empty boxes

“Cheer up, fucking cheer up,

It might never happen”

n fact it already has

“Cheer up, fucking cheer up”

You know, you’re not alone

In fact you’re already home

Now would it hurt to crack a smile, you sleeping crocodile

It’d help me think you’d tolerate my presence for a while

You look like a row of shops under a raincloud

You know you work so hard

and the cash you put away for so many years

it has no value now

Only you can save you now
Only you can save you now

“Cheer up, fucking cheer up,
It might never happen”

In fact it already has

“Cheer up, fucking cheer up”

You know, you’re not alone

In fact you’re already home

“Cheer up, fucking cheer up
”
You know, you’re not alone

In fact you’re already home.
Track Name: Divide and Fall
DIVIDE & FALL (Lyrics: Callahan)

I knocked on your front door

the sound inside was hollow

and I don’t l know what for

I didn’t need an echo

Give me pride of place and I’ll try to do the same

We have no personal space and nowhere to put the blame

I won’t let you fall away

Fall away

So, ask me once again: do I believe in something?

I’ll tell you my own gain

You can rely on one thing:

I won’t let you fall away

Fall away
Track Name: Middle Aged Freak
MIDDLE AGED FREAK (Lyrics: Callahan)

You look like you haven’t washed for a week

Your hair’s all greasy and your tea’s all weak

You’re a middle aged freak

You’re a tough old tenderised piece of meat
And your sage advice is on repeat
Repeat repeat
Middle aged freak

Bags under eyes look more like holdalls
Clothes any colour as long as they’re black

Nature’s chisel has chopped your face
Picasso features
Middle aged freak

A line of charlie while the kid’s asleep
You got a chopped hog Harley with a baby seat

You made a pass at the Russian girls in the nail bar
You’ve seen the internet, you know what they are
“Fuck off, grandad!”
Track Name: Anthem
ANTHEM (Lyrics: Callahan)

I like to make the tea and open the mail

Don’t feel I have to climb, don’t feel like I’ve failed

I like to know those above have forgotten me

I get visions of freedom in monotony

I don’t try to hide from reality

But there’s no room in this life for a dreamer like me

Sometimes in each life we all must fail

But those weren’t the words of your father

and into each life must fall some hail

you know – like rain, but harder

I don’t try to hide from reality

But there’s no room in this life for a dreamer like me

All I ask is a repetitive task

Till predictable five comes around at last

Like a mountain it’ll never change:

a simple job within my range

I don’t try to hide from reality

But there’s no room in this life for a dreamer like me

for a dreamer like me.
Track Name: Slide
SLIDE (Lyrics: Callahan)

They said I’d walk into a lamp post one day and that’s just what I did
And I've had far too many accidents and some of them are kids

Let it slide
I only came along for the ride
Let it slide

My last girlfriend was too sentimental
Mildly neurotic but totally mental
I was unhappy but at least I knew my role
Hammering my square peg into her round hole

Let it slide
I only came along for the ride
Let it slide

I pass like a ghost through the room
Like a body smell within perfume
Call it luck or call it wisdom
Things will turn out the same whether or not you push them

They call me ‘Slide’ because I’ve fallen into everything I’ve done
Slide like my features when the morning comes
Let it slide
I only came along for the ride
Let it slide
Track Name: Tunnel
TUNNEL (Lyrics: Callahan)

The tunnel – the only place to hide
The tunnel – cold and dark inside

The tunnel – bricks have fallen down

The tunnel – leads out of the town

The tunnel – the only place to hide

The tunnel – cold and dark inside

The tunnel – hunched she barely stood

The tunnel climbs into the wood

The forest – branches scratched her face

She quickens – quickens up her pace

A figure – he was still as stone

Her brother – frozen on his own.
Track Name: 6,000 Acres
6,000 ACRES (Lyrics: Callahan)

I got 6,000 acres
so many feet that I love

6,000 acres

it’s a gift from above

So don’t go treading on my dirt

cos every little grain hurts

Yeah, you measure it mile for mile

and you lock it up in files

You won’t go walking

Yeah, I’ll gag your big talking

Wheels keep turning

Keep on churning

Well, an inch of perimeter lost and I die

A fly lands on my skin I cry

Cos theirs’ is dirt that sticks

I breathe in and I’m sick, I’m sick

I’m sick

Now I’ve got the death bed blues

and my family’s trying on my shoes

and they don’t fit

I reckon that’s the hell of it

Don’t go treading on my dirt

Cos every little grain hurts.
Track Name: Rats On A Raft
RATS ON A RAFT (Lyrics: Callahan)
Well, the place was poorly staffed and it leaked fore and aft

Boss just shook his head and laughed

For this was what he’d suffered for in the past

Boss just shook his head and laughed
For this was what he’d suffered for in the past

Now when the jackals and the lice had gone

The good was going for a song

It was a rat building its own raft

Boss just shook his head and laughed

It was a rat building its own raft

Boss just shook his head and laughed

Now he decided to leave his throne and run

But not without a long last look at his son

Grotesque and twisted

Grotesque and twisted
At straws he grasped

Boss just shook his head and laughed

Well, the place was poorly staffed and it leaked fore and aft

Boss just shook his head and laughed

For this was what he’d suffered for in the past

Boss just shook his head and laughed

For this was what he’d suffered for in the past

in the past

in the past

rats on a raft.
Track Name: The Devil Looks After Her Own
THE DEVIL LOOKS AFTER HER OWN (Lyrics: Golding)

TOOK ON THE COLD CHURCH OF REASON

DRESSED IN A MOCK PURPLE FLOCK,

A DOOR FOR ESCAPE AND A BROKEN LANDSCAPE,

A HEART SHAPED KEY IN A RUSTY OLD LOCK
A WALL AS HIGH AS THE MOONSHINE

A THOUGHT-ROOF TO KEEP OUT THE SUN

BARBED WIRE BURKAS TO KEEP OUT THE LURKERS

HARD FEET MARCHING AS ONE

SO DON'T BLINK OR YOU WILL DIE CRYING

AND MISS OUT THE CLUES IN THE CODE

JUST KEEP ON BELIEVING IN JESUS

COS THE DEVIL LOOKS AFTER HER OWN

SWAMPED BY THE CAPTAIN AT HIGH TIDE
THE SHORELINE NO LONGER RECEDES
THE LIFEBOATS ARE GONE AND LUCK DOESN'T FLOAT

THE ANGELS HANG NUMBERS ON BAD AND GOOD DEEDS
SO DON'T BLINK OR YOU WILL DIE CRYING

AND MISS OUT THE CLUES IN THE CODE

JUST KEEP ON BELIEVING IN REASON

COS THE DEVIL LOOKS AFTER HER OWN

AND THEY DISH OUT THE JEWELS FROM THE REAL CROWN OF THORNS

HARD BRACKEN, COLD SILVER WILL MELT

GOD WINS POSTCODE LOTTERY AGAIN

WE'RE STILL STUCK WITH THE HANDS THAT WE WERE DEALT.

SO DIG TUNNELS AND YOU WILL FIND WATER

PLANT ORCHIDS IN BEDS OF BROWN WEEDS

GENERATE WISDOM AND WONDER

TAKE EVERYTHING WITH YOU THAT YOU'LL NEVER NEED

SO DON'T BLINK OR YOU WILL DIE CRYING

AND MISS OUT THE CLUES IN THE CODE
JUST KEEP ON BELIEVING IN REASON

COS THE DEVIL LOOKS AFTER HER OWN
Track Name: Security
SECURITY (Lyrics: Callahan)

Growing up’s the continuous life
You learn what is but you never learn why
Memories are details, the day to day blurred
Your needs are a rumour overheard

I can remember clearly now
A 5-minute incident 20 years ago
I can smell the violence, hear the row
Taste the dryness in my mouth

But you can remind me without blinding me
You can help me wend my way
You can incite me, get a rise from me
Knock on the door and run away

I can remember clearly now
A 5-minute incident 20 years ago
I can smell the violence, hear the row
Taste the dryness in my mouth

But you can excite me, almost frighten me
The edges of my mind are frayed
You get inside me from all sides of me
What a way to end my days.
Track Name: Built-in Obsolescence
BUILT-IN OBSOLESCENCE (Lyrics: Golding)

Harvest for the middle classes

Better off but miles behind

Labelled fresh but reduced in hours

Treasure for the poor to find

Trusting children soon discover

Everything they say they mock

Is a future dissertation

Killing time and punching clocks

Failure,
Built in obsolescence suits me

Point of order consumer blackmail
Pigeon holed and rubber stamped

Ready for belief rejection

Sell them once and then revamp

Frozen minutes post conception

Destination production line

Yesterday's tech revolution

Just tomorrow's waste of time

Failure,
Built in obsolescence suits me

High maintenance generation

Sold a lifetime guarantee

Plug a hole that was bored in seconds

Comfortable, ambition free
Blaming others for inertia
With superhuman speed

Paying undue care and attention

Sell us what we think we need

Failure,
Built in obsolescence suits me fine

Get your filthy hands off of my

Intellectual property

Laws stifle innovation

Theft is just discovery

Kneel before an unseen master

Waiting for the world to find
Everyone owns disappointment

What you hate is what you'll find

Failure,
Built in obsolescence suits me fine
Track Name: The Ten Commandments of Public Life
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF PUBLIC LIFE (Lyrics: Callahan)

Don’t make eye contact

Always swear when speaking aloud

Leave rubbish where it drops

Always hawk and spit on the ground
The ten commandments of public life

Adopt a persona

Remember: on the street you’re always on stage

Remember: heckled at the station you’re always on stage
The ten commandments of public life

A murder of crows appears

A judgement of jackdaws is near

A parliament of rooks appears

A judgement of jackdaws is near

Do what you can because you can

Do what though wilt get away with

Do what you can because you can

Do what though wilt get away with

No-one’s looking

Spirit away

No-one’s looking anyway

No-one’s looking

Spirit away

No-one’s looking anyway

Kill unbelievers

Covet thy neighbours

Testify falsely

Take infidel slaves

Kill unbelievers

Covet thy neighbours

Testify falsely

Take infidel slaves.
